Ring Promoter v1.0.2 — Rings, Orbit and Lanes Side by Side

Orbit for the fleet, Lanes for the APP × environment matrix — two views of int → test → acc → prod in the Happy Friday release

Balinder WaliaSeptember 25, 20262 min read

Ring Promoter v1.0.2 puts Rings, Orbit, and Lanes side by side — two instruments for the same promotion truth across int → test → acc → prod. Product page: /ring-promoter · Site: ringpromoter.com · Deep dive: long article.

Ring Promoter v1.0.2 — Rings, Orbit and Lanes

Watch on YouTube · Release: v1.0.2 (25 Sep 2026)

Bottom line. Pause on Orbit for the fleet. Flip to Lanes when you need the APP × environment matrix. Both views answer the same question: where versions sit, and how far the newest build has earned toward production.
QA tests failing on a Friday? No worries. Ring Promoter keeps applications healthy and auto-rolls back if a hop stays unhealthy. When QA gates pass, auto-promote carries the release through early rings all the way to Acceptance — and still holds the human gate before production. More on gates: QA Gates Before Production.

What shipped in v1.0.2

  • Orbit Deployer Board — Earth at the centre (live users); PROD closest in, then ACC, TEST, INT as outer spokes. Newest versions light solid; older stay hollow.
  • Lanes — NEW multi-environment matrix of APP × INT / TEST / ACC / PROD. Spanning version pills mean parity; a split at PROD means the hop still has to be earned.
  • Descent and cinematic stage — rings as orbits (Lanes as fallback), more sky, quieter labels, collision-aware leaders.
  • Ops polish since v1.0.1 — in-place ring restart, external QA agent scaffolding, multi-arch images, longer Helm waits, clearer workstation prod-password secrets.

Why this matters on Workstation

Platform teams running many apps through shared rings need a control room, not a pile of per-app pages. Orbit shows how far each release climbed. Lanes makes prod lag obvious in one glance. The promotion protocol underneath is unchanged: one hop at a time, health-gated, auto-rollback, full history.
