Cloud GPU or own hardware?

Independent advice on renting NVIDIA GPUs in the cloud versus owning them, and sizing hybrid set-ups that use both.

Talk to an engineer
  1. NVIDIA
  2. Cloud GPU or Own Hardware

Almost every major cloud and many specialist GPU clouds now rent NVIDIA GPUs by the hour or by the month, from inference cards up to rack-scale Grace Blackwell systems. For short projects or unpredictable demand that flexibility is valuable. For steady, everyday workloads, owning the hardware is often cheaper and keeps sensitive data on premises.

We do not resell cloud capacity, so our advice is independent. We compare the cost of renting with the cost of owning for your real workloads, and where it makes sense we size a hybrid set-up: hardware you own for the baseline, with cloud capacity for peaks.

Who it suits

  • Teams that need short-term or burst GPU capacity
  • Finance and IT leaders comparing cloud spend with buying hardware
  • Organisations with data-residency requirements weighing their options

Products we supply

NVIDIA GPU instances you will find on cloud platforms, and their nearest on-premises equivalents:

Rack-scale Grace Blackwell

What we do

Build, integration and support from our UK engineering team

Total cost comparison

We compare renting and owning over the life of the hardware, including power, hosting, support and expected utilisation.

Hybrid architecture

We design set-ups where containerised workloads, built on NGC images, run on your own hardware and move to the cloud when demand peaks.

On-premises sizing

We size the hardware you own for your steady workload, so you are not paying for capacity that sits idle.

Independent guidance

Because we don't sell cloud capacity, we can recommend staying in the cloud when that is the better answer.

Trade membership

Trade members get free technical support on every order and unlimited engineer time — help with configuration, drivers, software and troubleshooting, for as long as you own the kit.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell cloud GPU time?

No. We supply and support hardware you own. If renting is the better fit, we will say so and help you plan it.

When does owning GPUs make more sense than renting?

Usually when GPUs are in steady, everyday use, when data needs to stay on premises, or when you want predictable costs. Short or occasional workloads often favour the cloud.

Can the same workloads run in both places?

Yes, if they are containerised. Using NVIDIA's NGC containers and a common software stack, jobs can move between your own hardware and cloud instances.
